“Humanbeings Virajpet: We are living in an era where religion and spirituality have become relevant. We need to look at peace and harmony in life,” said Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade.

Speaking after inaugurating Sri Lingarajendra Prasada Nilaya, on the occasion of birth centenary celebrations of late Sri Shantamallaswami and tricentennial  celebrations of Arameri Kalancheri Mutt here on Saturday, he said that India is known for its history and tradition.

The religious tradition was responsible for the unity of the country. One should get spiritual power from mutts and mandirs. The relationship between God and humanbeing should not be limited to stories alone,” he said.

Former MP Adagooru Vishwanath said Basavanna had laid foundation for social change by propagating equality in 12th century. Basavanna has become a model for equality. Mutts are carrying forward the legacy of the country by taking up various social welfare programmes.

Minister for Cooperation H S Mahadeva Prasad released ‘Shanthasiri’ and ‘Dharmajyoti’ on the occasion.

“A true development is possible through spirituality,” he added.

Ponnampet Sri Ramakrishna Sharada Ashram seer Jagadathmananda Swamiji released Dharmajyoti thought series. Matsootturu Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Mutt Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswami, Tumakuru Sri Siddaganga Mutt Sri Siddalinga Mahaswami, Arameri Sri Kalancheri Mutt Shanthamallikarjuna Swamiji were present.

MP Pratap Simha, MLA Appachu Ranjan also spoke. MLA K G Bhopaiah presided over the function. Zilla Panchayat President Shareen Subbaiah, Kannada Sahitya Parishat District President T P Ramesh were present.
