Fees of MBBS, BE seats in pvt colleges under CET to go up

Last Updated 26 May 2015, 20:42 IST

Students wishing to pursue undergraduate professional courses in Karnataka will have to shell out higher fees from this academic year onwards.

The fee of a government quota seat in private medical colleges has gone up to Rs 55, 000 from Rs 46,000, according to sources in unaided college managements. For engineering seats, there will be two slabs. In colleges where the government quota seat is Rs 45,000, the fee of a COMEDK seat is likely to be Rs 1.6 lakh. In colleges where government quota seats are fixed at Rs 50,000 apiece, the COMEDK seat fee is likely to be Rs 1.1 lakh.

Unaided college managements may sign the consensual agreement on Wednesday. A meeting in this regard between the government officials concerned and representatives of unaided college managements was held here on Tuesday, sources told Deccan Herald. This comes in the wake of the government recently introducing an amendment to the Karnataka Professional Education Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Determination of Fee) Act, 2006, by providing for consensual agreement for seat sharing between the government and unaided colleges.
