The City Municipal Council President  B M Mubarak assured to provide the new government high school necessary rooms, water and other basic facilties with an estimated budget of Rs 15 lakh.

The personnel and students of the school expressed their grievances to Mubarak, who visited the school on Thursday.

Listing the troubles, the teachers told that the problem of rooms occurs as high school and pre-university classes are conducted in the same building and students are forced to sit under the hot sun and attend classes. They added that the Bescom has disconnected the electricity connection three months back, as the electricity bill was not paid and hence because of this, there has been water problem too.

The only borewell in the school too has no water. It is difficult to prepare the midday meal for the children. Water has to be brought from a place that is two kilometer away. The rooms lack proper light facility and the walls are dilapidated – leaving the children to spend the days in school in fear, complained the teachers in the school.

Hygiene issues
They added that the school which has a strength of 480 students and 14 teaching staff, there are no toilets. The school building has not been painted since years and children have no playground to play. Despite several complaints to the department of education, the problem has not been resolved yet, they said.

Students, adding along, said that the school has no library because of the lack of rooms though the government has provided books. They requested the president to resolve the problems which include the lack of tables in school.

Responding to the complaints, Mubarak assured that water will be provided every day through water tankers and told that two new rooms would be constructed in the school. He also said that the electricity problem will be solved by paying the bill from the city municipal council itself.
