A standout performance by Ajay Thakur and a solid performance from Manjeet Chhillar helped Bengaluru Bulls rout Bengal Warriors 33-22 in the Pro Kabaddi League match at the Gachibowli Stadium here on Thursday.

Bengaluru consolidated their third spot by taking their tally to 30 points in eight matches. For the Warriors it was a second big defeat after their 24 points loss to the hosts Telugu Titans on Wednesday. They have 11 points in nine outings and stay in the seventh spot.

After a slow start the teams warmed up with Mahendra Rajput putting his team up with a hand touch on veteran Dhramaraj Cherlathan, in the rival left corner. It was a close fight till the 16th minute when the scores stood at 9-9.

For the Bulls it was Ajay Thakur who came up with seven raid points and one from a catch before he fell in a raid to Nilesh Shinde and Mahendra. The Warriors scored through Mahendra and Jang Kun Lee. Deepak Kumar too made his presence felt.

At half-time the game was still in the balance as the Bulls held a slight edge at 10-16 but the second half told a different story as Bulls dominated.

Titans march on

In the other match of the day, hosts Telugu Titans rode on a fine performance from Meraj Shekyh to trounce a listless Patna Pirates 54-32.

The Titans were so ruthless that after inflicting the first all-out in just five minutes of play, they went on to score two more all-outs just few minutes before the half time whistle.
