Reaching its campaigning peak for the BBMP polls, the BJP has planned a blitzkrieg of rallies and roadshows across the City on Wednesday.
Technically, Wednesday is the last day for public campaigning, though the deadline falls on Thursday. Election rules stipulate that all public campaigning for local body elections should end 48 hours before the polling starts. The BBMP is scheduled to go to polls on Saturday at 7 am.
The BJP election camp at a hotel in Malleswaram is a beehive of activity, with campaigning managers working out a route map for Wednesday’s roadshows. The BJP has listed 40 star campaigners and most of them will hit the roads.
Union Ministers Ananth Kumar, D V Sadananda Gowda and M Venkaiah Naidu will criss-cross the city with roadshows in Jayanagar, Yeshwantpur and Yelahanka respectively. Former Union minister and joint in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka D Purandeshwari will campaign in Jayanagar, Pattabhiramanagar, Gurappanapalya and Byrasandra.
Highest demand is for the cine-star elements in the party including Jaggesh, Tara and Malavika. For the first time, Shruthi will campaign for the party. Jaggesh will campaign at JP Park, Tara in Bengaluru (South) and Malavika in Jalahalli.
Candidates have also planned bike rallies in their wards. In all, the aim is to cover maximum ground, party functionaries said.
Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, who has been campaigning alone by not associating himself with any other top leader, will continue his lone crusade. He is scheduled to campaign at BTM Layout.
The party has planned door-to-door reach out programmes on Thursday and Friday.
