Meeting place

Hauz Khas Village is one of the plushest colonies of south Delhi, harbouring major designer stores and gourmet food restaurants where a basic eat-out can set you back by a minimum Rs 1,500 plus taxes.

But in the midst of these pricey places is the newly launched High5 Cafe and Lounge, which not only fits in but is able to provide elbowroom to a larger crowd. Their cost for two is Rs 800 plus taxes (without alcohol).

Heavily muted lighting reflecting from yellow walls, vintage chairs and tables adorn the place. The café and bar look like two different spaces merged into one. The café part has wall art and cartoons and the bar part has all kinds of beverages displayed prominently.

Sketches in black ink on the wall, talk of rock bands, films and legendary people, make up the busy ambience. The most prominent sight as soon as one enters is the bar, which occupies nearly half the place. High 5 does not emulate any restaurant’s ambience completely, but borrows the best design attributes from various places, which actually works to its advantage, as one feels cosier and at home in the chatter of a café and chaos of a party.

Busy at all hours, the restaurant is a cafe in the day and a lounge at night. Concentrating on the food and the bar equally is not an easy task, also with hookah being on the menu. The entertaining music is kept alive with mouth-watering delicacies of High 5 Café’s diverse cuisines. The versatile kitchen set-up can dish up finger-licking varieties transcending cuisines from traditional Indian (various genres) to Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Oriental and Indian.

The casual dining space area compels and lures you to order and taste the most appetising ‘Café High 5 Chef scrumptious specialties’, prominently Paneer Tikka Shashlik with crushed Papad, Galouti Mutton with Ulte Tawa Paratha and much more.
The mocktails and cocktails are not new names on the menu, but something as common as the Long Island Iced Tea, which most restaurants have stopped experimenting with, this place has reinvented it.

High 5 is not just another café; it’s a meeting place, a point where one can visit, sit around and talk, eat out or to get high and party hard. A place like this has a high market value and is for everyone who enjoys casual dining.
