The winner was Bangalore based Priyanka Grover, who is all set to storm the fashion world as well as jet off on a trip to Paris later this year.

Speaking to Metrolife, the peppy, young 22-year-old talked about the thrill of winning the contest, the challenges she faced and what she hopes to achieve in the coming months.
“It was an enjoyable experience from the time I filled up my entry form to the heart stopping moments of the grand finale,” she exclaims.

After a week of intense design based tasks that were assigned to the contestants and scrutinised by the celebrity judges at every point, six hopefuls were further eliminated from the contest bringing the number of finalists down to nine.

“We were required to use only cotton and I never realised how versatile the fabric can be. I designed a pure white brunch outfit that had to be sophisticated and trendy although it was created out of plain cotton fabric. I was thrilled when I won the prize. I used the length of the fabric to my advantage and made the garment seamless except for the opening.

For the next two tasks I played around with the fabrics, mixing and matching textures,” she says, adding, “I love colours and  am inspired by nature as  well as life around me in all its vibrant forms. I also  believe that using accessories like broaches, scarves or
bags can perk up a simple outfit and make it stand out.”

Inspired by the likes of John Galiano, who runs the Christian Dior label and Indian designers like Manish Arora, style, she maintains, is a very personal statement tailored to an individual by accessories and drape.

Paris, she hopes, will give her the access and exposure to a broad spectrum of international fashion houses as well as a deeper understanding of a different fashion mindset and perception.

“I hope to evolve my own distinct sense of design which my clientele will recognise and appreciate in the years to come,” she adds.
