The runway sizzled with a creative melange of concepts, colours and clothes at the Deccan Herald, Metrolife Fashion Show presented by Reliance Trends in Oxford Educational Institutions, HSR Layout on Saturday.

Girls of Mount Carmel College, who ‘wowed’ the judges in their flowing, off-shoulder white outfits, emerged winners at the second preliminary round. Oxford College of Science walked away with the second prize for their trippy, hippie theme and Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering stood third, followed by Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology at fourth.

The judges, who themselves have won many hearts for their illustrious career in the fashion and glamour industry, unanimously applauded the teams for their creativity. Models Neha Saxena and Swati Bhandary, designer Jason Cheriyan and Sandalwood actor Sunil Bhalder had a great time.

Sunil said, “The students did put a lot of effort in their costumes but did not concentrate on their ramp walk and choreography enough.” Neha added, “Some of the teams were very professional in selecting their themes and choreographing their walk. There are a few potential models I could spot.”

A few concepts were definitely worth remembering – be it for the thoughtful designs, intelligent choreography or creative wear.  A riot of colour burst on stage as Baldwin’s Women’s Methodist College kickstarted the show with their ethnic wear that portrayed dancing dolls and ‘Hoysala’ princesses.

T John College too dazzled with a portrayal of diverse cultures and various hues of India. Army Institute of Hotel Management and Catering showcased ‘bon diversity’, a potpourri of attitudes and personalities of ‘dudes and divas’ while ‘Ras Leela’, a theme by School of Engineering and Technology, Jain University, was a visual treat.

Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College sported ready-to-wear apparel and got the audience to dance with them while Koshy’s Group of Institutions walked in preppy, party clothes. The final round will take place on September 18 at Dayanand Sagar Institutions, Kumaraswamy Layout.
