JOIN USThe State BJP on Tuesday is said to have finalised the names of siblings of two senior leaders for the elections to the Legislative Council from the graduates and local authorities constituencies.
At a meeting chaired by party State president Pralhad Joshi here, the party decided to give the ticket for Hubballi-Dharwad local authorities constituency to Pradeep Shettar, brother of former chief minister Jagadish Shettar. In 2013, Pradeep Shettar had unsuccessfully contested in by-elections from the same constituency losing to Nagaraj Chabbi of the Congress.
Ex-minister Murugesh Nirani’s brother Hanumanta Nirani will be contesting from North-West Graduates constituency. For North-West teachers’ constituency, the party has decided to field Arun Shahpur for another term. The following sitting MLCs from local authorities constituencies will recontest: R K Siddaramanna (Shivamogga), G S Nyamagouda (Bagalkot-Vijayapura), Mahantesh Kavatagimath (Belagavi), Kota Srinivasa Poo- jary (Udupi-Dakshina Kannada). New faces include Naveen (Davangere-Chitradurga) and Raghu (Mysuru-Chamarajanagar).
