The CBI, which secured Peter Mukerjea’s custody for four more days, brought him back to Delhi from Mumbai on Thursday night for possible polygraph and brain-mapping tests.

Peter Mukerjea, former media baron and one of the accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, was flown to Delhi at around 8 pm. He will be questioned over details on financial aspects of the murder of Sheena Bora like the money parked in her name in overseas accounts. Besides, the agency also wants a polygraph (lie-detector test) on Peter, so that he comes out with the truth.

The CBI is also seeking the help of Interpol to track down Sheena’s overseas accounts in Singapore and Hong Kong.

The CBI told the magistrate court in Mumbai that Peter and his wife Indrani Mukerjea had formed various companies during 2006-07 and invested Rs 900 crores in them. Around that time, the Mukerjea couple had co-founded INX Media Pvt Ltd and 9X Media Pvt Ltd, and it is suspected that some money may have been parked in overseas accounts of Sheena.

Mukerjea was produced before the Esplanade magistrate court, which remanded him in the CBI custody till November 30. He was later taken to the office of the special task force of the CBI.

Mukerjea is the fourth accused to be arrested in the case, along with his wife Indrani, her first husband Sanjeev Khanna, and driver Shyamwar Rai, who are remanded to judicial custody till December 3.

“His remand has been extended till November 30 to enable the CBI to investigate further,” Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh told the court.

“He has no involvement in the murder,” Peter’s lawyer Amit Desai opposed the extension of remand saying: “If he is not sent to police custody, how will it hamper their investigation, would they not be able to find bank account details.”
