Congress trying to get rid of Upalokayukta at any cost: BJP

BJP MLA and former minister Suresh Kumar has accused the ruling Congress of misusing the State Legislature and hatching a conspiracy to remove Upalokayukta  Justice Subhash B Adi from office “at any cost.”

In a letter to Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa on Tuesday, copies of which were released to the press, Kumar has termed the development a “black spot in the history of the State Legislature”.

Kumar stated that he was writting the letter in the wake of Thimmappa’s statement on Monday that he had obtained sufficient evidence against Justice Adi. “The Congress had moved the petition in the Legislature last month. It is still unclear from where this new evidence surfaced. Who searched the evidence? It is also unclear whether evidence can be furnished so many days after filing the complaint,” Kumar stated. He accused the Congress of trying to destroy the institution of the Lokayukta.
