Sindhia will support Congress in panchayat elections: DKS

Former minister P G R Sindhia will support the Congress candidates in the upcoming zilla and taluk panchayat elections in Ramanagaram and Kanakapura, Energy Minister D K Shivakumar has claimed.

District in-charge minister of Ramanagaram, Shivakumar told reporters here on Saturday that Sindhia and his supporters had agreed to back the Congress candidates in the polls.

Once political archrivals, Sindhia and Shivakumar had contested against each other in the 2013 Assembly elections from Kanakapura constituency. Shivakumar had defeated Sindhia who had fought the election on a JD(S) ticket.

“Sindhia has not joined the Congress but has decided to be part of the UPA,” Shivakumar said.
Sindhia had earlier quit the JD(S) in 2006 after he fell out with party leader H D Deve Gowda. He rejoined the party after a brief stint in the Bahujan Samaj Party.
