Three people were killed and two sustained injuries when the car they were travelling by rear-ended a lorry at Sakrebailu near Shivamogga on Wednesday.
According to the police, the deceased are Bhagyamma (40), Kamalamma (45), and Sheshanna (55), all residents of Siddapura in Bhadravati. The injured Mallappa and Jayaram, also passengers of the car, are being treated at McGann Hospital here. All the five passengers of the car were relatives and Jayaram was the wheel, the police said.
They were returning to Bhadravathi from Thirthahalli after attending a wedding ceremony. Tunganagar police have registered a case.
