Notice to Minto Eye Hospital for power outage

Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil on Thursday said that his department would serve a notice to the Minto Eye Hospital authorities seeking an explanation for not ensuring 24/7 power supply.

The hospital was without power for nearly three days owing to a glitch in the transformer. The authorities have been pulled up as they made no alternative arrangements and put the lives of patients at risk. Patil said that though there was a generator in the hospital, it has been defunct.

The minister also said that as there was no word about the implementation of the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) in Karnataka this year, the government would go ahead with the existing CET format for students taking up professional courses.
