<p>The security agencies in Gujarat began investigations into a suspected use of banned transmission equipment in the border district of Kutch.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The agencies reportedly intercepted suspicious signals from a transmission equipment they believe to have been made in West Asia.<br /><br />The security agencies were perplexed as the equipment in question is banned in India but used in neighbouring Pakistan.<br /><br />Makrand Chauhan, Superintendent of Police (West Kutch), on Tuesday said the investigation was being carried out with regards to the intercept as well as use of banned satellite phone. <br /><br />“I cannot reveal anything more at this juncture for security reasons,” he was quoted to have said. <br />He also refused to divulge the location of the intercept.<br /><br />The incident assumes significance in the wake of ongoing alert in the state following last month’s intelligence inputs regarding infiltration by a group of terrorists via sea route to carry out terror strikes in the country.<br />DH News Service</p>
