Hampi varsity dean quits on moral ground

The resignation comes close on the heels of controversial decision to hand over 80-acre land belonging to the university to Vijayanagara Punaschetana Pratistana Trust (Vijayanagar Revival Trust).

Rahmath, who is a syndicate member, has resigned owning moral responsibility. According to sources, Rahmath was not present in the meeting, where the decision was taken. Many litterateurs have opposed the decision and demanded the government to drop the move.

Reactions

In Bangalore, former legislators’ forum has criticised the State Government for handing over 80 acres of land belong to Hampi University to Vijayanagar Punaschetana Pratistana (Trust).

Addressing the media on Wednesday Chandrashekhar Kambar, former MLC and former vice chancellor of Hampi University, alleged that the syndicate of the university agreed to hand over the land when representatives of the teaching faculty were absent in the meeting. The syndicate should review its decision.
