Legislator C T Ravi warned officials of initiating stern action, if they show negligence in the implementation of the Union government schemes meant for farmers and economically deprived classes.

He was speaking at a people’s contact meeting of Hirekolale and Indavara villages in Chikkamagaluru on Monday.

Ravi directed officials to clear the encroachments of government lands at Indavara, Kuruvangi, Hirekolale, Allampura and Beekanahalli villages.

The villagers complained to him that officials have submitted a report about zero crop loss without spot inspection. They claimed that paddy and ragi have dried up due to lack of rain in the nearby villages.

The MLA told the panchayat development officers should submit the report after inspecting the spot.

He expressed dissatisfaction as funds are not reserved to handle emergency situation at Indavara gram panchayat.

Ravi said drinking water, cattle feed and cleanliness should be taken as the main priorities. Basic facilities should be provided to all. Farmers should enrol for Pradhan Mantri Phasal Beema Yojana, he added.

Zilla Panchayat member Somashekhar, Taluk Panchayat President Ishwarahalli Mahesh, Vice President Suresh and others were present on the occasion.
