17 IPS officers shuffled in WB, Gyanwant new CP Bidhannagar

West Bengal government today effected yet another reshuffle in police set up by transferring 17 IPS officers.

Western zone's IGP Gyanwant Singh has been sent as Commissioner of Police in Bidhannagar in place of Jawed Shamim, according to a government notification.

Shamim has been asked to take over as Director, Economic Offence Wing. Laxmi Narayan Shukla has been posted as Commissioner of Police, Asansol-Durgapur replacing Siddh Nath Gupta who will be the new IGP (Organisation).

North 24 Parganas district SP Tanmay Ray Chaudhuri has been posted as Commissioner of Police, Barrackpore Niraj Kumar Singh who will be the new IGP of Intelligence branch (border). IPS officer Bhaskar Mukherjee will be the new North 24 Parganas SP.

Bharati Ghosh, SP of West Midnapore district, has been given additional charge of Jhragram as well. Jhargram SP Sukhendu Hira has been sent as DC, SB in Bidhannagar.

Siliguri Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar Verma has been made special IG, Traffic Police. DIG Presidency Range Subrata Kumar Mitra will also supervise the work of Hooghly SP. Similarly, IGP South Bengal Ajey Mukund Ranade will supervise the work of IGP Western zone.
