None but yourself...

Recently, I was skimming through this quite an impressive forwarded piece. It seems, once, in a software company, a rather startling notice was strategically clamped near the entrance door.

It read, "The person, who was persistently preventing your professional success in this place, has passed away. One can take the final dekko at his body, encased in a coffin, placed near the party-room".

Needless to say, several employees swarmed around the specified place with singular curiosity. When each one cran-ed his neck, to take closer look inside the coffin, to his consternation, saw his own clear reflection from a full-length mirror, nestled in the coffin! Above the mirror was pinned a paper on which was penned, "No one but yourself can thwart your succe-ss or happiness! Your life does-n't change when your company, colleagues or close relatives ch-ange. Your life changes when y-ou and your thinking attitude c-hange. Since, none can influen- ce your success/happiness quo-tient other than your own self".

This reminds me of a friend who was once saying, "At my workplace, I had a senior, against whom I had unwittingly developed a hatred. Apparently, I used to see conspiracy in every word and action of hers. When I missed my promotion that year, I even perceived it as a premeditated ploy of hers, to pull me down! These disconcerting thoughts derailed my analytical thinking, deflected my focus from work, besides causing me dollops of distress".

"This isn't all. The festering feelings and frustrations I started flinging at home, in turn, foi-ling my own fun moments with my family, too. Only later, did I come to know my senior was saying good things about me, always. Now I realize it was my battered mind that had turned into a breeding ground for those baseless doubts which was blocking my happiness"!

Agreed, at times, certain thi-ngs in life, related to success an-d happiness, are beyond our capacity. Yet, many times, it so happens that we ourselves keep stymieing our success due to several misgivings. But, once we determine, whatsoever, we won't let anyoneto negatively influence us in our mission to be happy and successful, then certainly, we'd find ourselves ever treading on the track of happiness and success!
