Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering (RVCE) on Mysuru Road was abuzz on Friday with a WhatsApp message of an unusual notice from the ‘college principal.’

The notice with forged signature of the principal stated that all girls should have at least one boyfriend by February 14, 2017 (Valentine’s Day) and, such instruction has been issued for security reasons.

RVCE principal Prof Subramanya K N termed the notice a fake one and a prank by mischief mongers attempting to denigrate the reputation of an individual or the institution.

The college management has filed an email complaint with the cyber crime cell of the city police and also registered a formal complaint with the jurisdictional Kengeri police as the principal’s sign was forged in the fake notice.

The notice read: “Attention Ladies!! It is mandatory for all girls to have at least one boyfriend by 14 February. This has been done for security purposes. Single girls will NOT be allowed to enter the college premises. They’ll have to show a recent picture with their boyfriend. Spread Love. Undersigned - Principal.”

Prof Subramanya said, “We came to know that this notice was making the rounds on WhatsApp for the last two days. An appeal was made to all the students of the college not to use social media for tarnishing the reputation of an individual or institution. As CCTV cameras have been installed on the premise, mischief mongers did not resort to sticking this fake notice on trees or walls on the premises.”
