Condolences pour in, contemporaries shocked

The Indian film industry on Thursday condoled the demise of actor-politician Vinod Khanna.

Khanna’s contemporary and onscreen competitor Amitabh Bachchan joined the family of the actor, while Shatrughan Sinha took to Twitter to offer condolences.

Reports said Bachchan, who was giving an interview for his upcoming movie Sarkar 3, left it in between to join the bereaved family.

They have been part of several films together including Amar Akbar Antony, Muqaddar ka Sikandar and Parvarish. At one point of time, Khanna was the biggest challenge to the Big B, but midway at the peak of his career, Khanna became a monk.

Fellow parliamentarian Shatrughan Sinha said Khanna was a true friend and he admired him.
“Vinod Khanna, truly “Mere Apne”, one of my most admired and loved personalities, the supremely handsome & talented superstar is no more. Right from films to politics, Vinod Khanna & I sailed together and he leaves behind an entire generation & more of fans, admirers,” tweeted Sinha.

They have worked together in Guddi and Mere Apne.

“Will miss you Amar. RIP,” tweeted Rishi Kapoor and posted a banner of Amar Akbar Antony.
“#VinodKhanna ji had a magnetic charm & persona. Both on & off screen. He was kind, affectionate & helpful. Loved his panther like walk,” tweeted Anupam Kher.

“My heartfelt condolences to the whole Khanna family... He will live on through his legacy & in our hearts... #VinodKhanna you will be missed,” added Anil Kapoor.
