Grab this challenge to help Metro in last-mile connectivity

Last Updated 01 May 2017, 19:39 IST

Have an idea to improve the last-mile connectivity at metro stations or an innovative solution for better access to Namma Metro? Then this is your chance to voice it out.

The first-of-its kind Station Access and Mobility Program (STAMP) challenge — launched by World Resource Institute (WRI) India Sustainable Cities, in partnership with the Toyota Mobility Foundation and supported by Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC) — aims at improving the commuting experience in metro stations.

“Commuters face problems in getting to and from the metro stations, better known as the problem of first-and last-mile connectivity.  This challenge aims to uncover innovative solutions for improving access to metro, connecting people from their homes to their places of work and study,” said Sudeept Maiti, managing associate for WRI India.

Aspects such as enhanced safety and security, parking access and management, pedestrian and cyclist priority will be looked into as part of the challenge. Individuals, private enterprises, academic institutions and citizens’ groups can present an idea, product or service that has the potential to improve the reliability and quality of connectivity to urban public transit systems.

“The shortlisted candidates will attend an intensive boot camp tailored to support the legal, technical and business development of mobility solutions. Research grants will be awarded to finalists for further development of business idea, product or service,” Maiti said. Interested people can send their entries to http://wricitieshub.org/stamp2017.

Winners get six months’ support to build their product or service, besides pilot implementation of their entries. They will have access to a global network of industry leaders and experts.
