Heavy showers lash parts of Karnataka

Rain continued to lash several parts of the state on Sunday.

Parts of Bagalkot district received heavy rainfall. Farmers of Mudhol were overjoyed by the rain which lasted 45 minutes. They are now ready to begin agricultural activities.

Heavy showers, accompanied by lightning, lashed parts of Badami taluk in Bagalkot district. Kulageri Cross, Khanapur, Haganur, Govanakoppa, Vadavatti, Somanakoppa, Narsapur, Belavalakoppa, Kalasa and other villages witnessed heavy rain. Water overflowed from Deshi Halla, where a bridge is being constructed, inundating fields, buildings and roads. Rain took a break in Uttara Kannada district. Karwar received light rain for a while. The inflow of water into Supa dam was 505 cusecs.

Ballari city and its surroundings witnessed gusty winds and moderate rainfall. Water from drains overflowed onto the streets. The railway underbridge near the district stadium was covered under three to four feet of rainwater. Commuters had to struggle to navigate through the streets.
