Young mountaineers Akshay Patke and  Ashish Mane from renowned mountaineering organization Giripremi have successfully scaled world’s eighth peak Mount Manaslu (8163 Meters).

The team of two mountaineers accompanied by Sherpas summits the peak at dawn of 26 September. It is Giripremi’s sixth successful expedition on the 8 thousander expeditions in six years.

The Mount Manaslu team had two young mountaineers- Ashish Mane, an Everester, and AkshayPatke. They summit Mount Manaslu with the help of Dorchi Sherpa, Mingma Sherpa, Forbu Dorchi Sherpa and Tenzing Sherpa of Peak Promotion Nepal. Before Mount Manaslu, Ashish Mane had a vast experience of 8thousander expeditions.

He has summited Mount Everest in 2012, Mount Lhotse in 2013, Mount Makalu in 2014 and fell short by just 200 meters from Mount Dhaulagiri in 2016. 27 years old Ashish, who hails from Satara, has set the record of being the first Indian Civilian to successfully summit the Mount Makalu in 2014.

Now he is only the second Indian to summit four 8thounsanders and only Maharashtrian to do so. On other hand, it is first 8 thousander summit for AkshayPatke. Like Ashish, he too felt short Mount Dhaulagiri by just 200 meters in 2016.

This year, under the leadership of Umesh Zirpe, both the Mountaineers put their all experience and skills to summit one of the toughest mountains.

The summit route to Mansalu was tricky. There is a huge wall of 700 meters between camp 1 and 2 which was needed to climb. Along with this, there were huge crevices along the route.

However, the team overcame all the obstacles and successfully summited the peak, according to a press statement.

The 8163 meters high Mount Manaslu is located in Gorkha region in Nepal and has a proximity to Tibet border. The peak is surrounded by more than 10 peaks of 6500-metre heights and few more than 7000-metre height. Another 8thousander peak ‘Mount Annapurna’ is located near Manaslu and can be seen after reaching the summit at Manaslu.

Mount The journey to the top of Manaslu consists the several long ridges and valleys of the glacier. Mount Manaslu is often called as ‘Mountain of Spirit’ and the name Manaslu is derived from Sanskrit word Manasa which means intellect or soul.

Giripremi’s team of two mountaineers completed the expedition in record time. It took just 24 days for the team to return Kathmandu after the expedition.

In 2012, Giripremi had organised the biggest civilian expedition on world’s highest peak Mount Everest. It was hugely successful with 8 mountaineers successfully summited Mount Everest in 2012. After Mount Everest Expedition, Giripremi never looked back.

The organization registered success in expeditions like ‘Mount Everest- Mount Lhotse (World’s fourth highest peak) Expedition in 2013, Mount Makalu (World’s fifth highest peak) Expedition in 2014, Mount Chyou (World’s sixth highest peak) and Mount Dhaulagiri (World’s seventh highest peak) in 2016. Mount Manaslu (World’s eighth highest peak) is recent addition to the tally.

All these 8 thousander expeditions were organised under the able leadership of veteran mountaineer and Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee Umesh Zirpe.
