Citizens urged to follow ideals of Gandhiji

District In-Charge Minister R V Deshpande urged people to follow the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi to fulfill his dreams.

Speaking at distribution of three-wheeled vehicles to physically challenged people, he said, eschewing religion and caste politics, everyone should make efforts for overall development of country.

He said, through violence we cannot solve our problems, hence, we should follow truth and non-violence.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Satish Sail said, for the first time, the State government had released Rs 800 to 1000 crore for the district, and development works including road and bridge construction have been done.

Minister R V Deshpande laid foundation for construction of 34 houses at Panchashirwad, under Graha Bhagya Scheme, to provide shelter for civic workers. The bedsheets and pillow covers were distributed to students of 97 hostels under CSR scheme of District Backward Classes Welfare Department. Minister also released October month Janapada special issue on Mahatma Gandhiji, published by State Information & Public Relations Department.

District Physically Challenged & Senior Citizens Welfare Department, with the co-ordination of Havells Company and Zilla Panchayat distributed three-wheeled vehicles to 12 and 29 beneficiaries respectively.

Zilla Panchayat President Jayashree Moger, State Fisheries Development Corporation President Rajendra Naik, City Municipal Council President Ganpati Naik, Vice-president Leelabai Thanekar, Karwar Urban Development Authority President Sandeep Talekar,

Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer L Chandrashekhar Naik, District Superintendent of Police Vinayak V Patil were present.
