ZP president seeks report on water shortage

Speaking at a progress review meeting here on Monday, she said water scarcity has become grave in the district. “Agricultural activities have been affected and people are virtually struggling for water. Even cattle are deprived of water,” she noted. The ZP president said that she would draw the attention of the government on the basis of the report that would be submitted by the officials.

Suggesting the officers to tour the affected areas to gain a first hand knowledge of the situation, she said that progress would be reviewed every week henceforth.Deputy Secretary Lakshminarayana instructed the Gram Panchayat secretaries to construct tanks for at a cost of Rs 5,000, wherever possible to store and provide water to cattle. Water should be supplied to such tanks through tankers.

Officials from Animal Husbandry Department informed that the fodder stock in the district would last for ten weeks and the situation may aggravate if it did not rain. The Deputy Secretary asked to furnish a list of villages facing fodder shortage for further action.

Resignation
Even as the meeting was progressing, Zilla Panchayart member B N Kokila representing Padamaghatta in Mulbagal taluk submitted her resignation to the president.
Koila has been elected as the the corporator to Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. Kokila had voted against Mangamma during the recently held election for the president. She still had eight months’ tenure.
