An ordinance issued in this regard will come into effect from Friday. Those who have already paid the duty fee at 7.5 per cent, between April 1 and June 4, 2009, will not get refund.
The duty reduction for flats should have come into effect from April 1 as the government, in the budget, had announced the cut in stamp duty to boost the recession-hit construction industry.
But it did not happen as the government failed to include flats in the notification that brought down the stamp duty for sale of all kinds of property by 1.5 per cent.
