Black marketing of food grains busted

 
Officials of Department of Food and Civil Supplies have seized 320 quintals of rice and two trucks used for transporting and have also arrested two persons.

The rice which was stored at the godown of Department of Food and Civil Supplies in Tyavarekoppa near here was allotted for Honnali taluk in Davangere district under public distribution system.

The two trucks had left the godown for Honnali on Saturday at 3.40 pm. The trucks failed to reach the destination by the scheduled time and were found in the City till late evening.
Supporters of the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies intercepted the trucks near Channamumbapura village at 10.30 pm.

Officials of Department of Food and Civil Supplies who came to the spot seized the trucks. Drivers Umesh Naik and Abdul Rahman were handed over to the police.
The seized food grains are valued at Rs Four lakh in the open market.
