The Rajasthan state government has decided to file a review petition against the Supreme Court's stay on the ban on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat.

A committee, led by Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria, which studied the Supreme Court's order, has decided to file a petition on Monday or Tuesday.

The committee members include senior Cabinet ministers and senior officers of the home and law departments.

"We have jointly decided to file a review petition in the Supreme Court. We have studied the Supreme Court's order. We respect the order, but the honour of the historic event of 'Jauhar' should be protected as per the public sentiment," Kataria told DH.

In a two-hour meeting of the home minister and the leaders of Karni Sena, which has been spearheading the protest against the film, he asked the Rajput body to be a party to the petition.

The Mewar Royal family has also been invited to be a party to the petition.
