JOIN USA bench headed by Justice Sudarshan Reddy dismissed the petition refusing any relief to the Mumbai Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Ltd. The company had earlier moved the Bombay High Court seeking direction to the Maharashtra government for a speedy completion of land acquisition by the authorities for its SEZ coming up in Raigad district.
The Bombay High Court had disposed of the petition of the company on May 25 asking it to approach the apex court for direction, as public interest petitions pertaining to the acquisition of land for such exclusive SEZ were pending before it.
The letter of intent issued two years earlier would lapse according to the agreement if the land acquisition process was not complete by June 8, the company said in the petition.
