International conference organised at MITE

ICon MMEE 2018, a two-day international conference on 'Advances in Manufacturing, Materials and Energy Engineering' organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering, Moodbidri, and Binghamton University, New York, was held on MITE campus on Friday.

Prof Dr Krishnaswami Shrihari, dean of the Binghamton University – State University of New York, inaugurated the international conference and threw light on the need to integrate the knowledge of compartmentalised disciplines such as Materials, Manufacturing and Energy Engineering to achieve rapid technological progress.

He also emphasised on the fact that entrepreneurship in India had its genesis in the establishment of banking institutions by citing the examples of the major banks in the region.

Rajesh Chouta, chairman of the Rajalaxmi Education Trust, Mangaluru, presided over the function and stressed on the roles played by conferences in aiding exchange of knowledge and technological advancements between researchers from different parts of the globe in his presidential address.

MoU signed

MITE signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Binghamton University in 2016 at the University. The institutions agree to foster advancement in teaching, research, academic, collaboration and cultural understanding and to create avenues for enhancing learner experience at both entities, as well as strengthen both entities by finding ways of combining their complementary resources and strengths.

MITE principal Dr G L Easwar Prasad and vice principal Dr C R Rajashekhar were present.
