Highway widening in Kushalnagar from May 15

A meeting was convened by Chamber of Commerce in association with KRDCL and PWD to seek suggestions from the citizens of the region. The public gave their consent to the widening of the road as per law.

MLA Appacchuranjan said the road work from Kushalnagar to Madikeri is in its final stages. The road will be opened for the movement of vehicles on May 3.

The work on road widening will be started after May 15 in Kushalnagar. Merchants and citizens should co-operate with the authorities concerned, he appealed. The road will be widened by 18 metre in the town. Those houses or shops which come within the limits of 18
metres should evict voluntarily.

Appacchuranjan said as per KRDCL rules, KRDCL has to asphalt seven metre road. However, keeping in mind the increasing population of the town, the road will be widened by 9 metre on one side.  

KRDCL divisional Deputy Director K S Venkatesh said there is no proposal for fourlaning of road in Kushalnagar.

He said the space will be earmarked for the construction of drainage, installation of electric poles in the town. Tahsildar B S Hiriyanna, KRDCL Divisional Engineer Devaraj, Chamber of Commerce standing committee president K R Ravikumar, PWD executive Engineer K Ravikumar, Town Panchayat EO Padmanabha and DySP M Narayana were present.
