SC refuses bail to film producer Govardhan

A Bench comprising Justices J M Panchal and R M Lodha dismissed the bail plea of Murthy on Friday. Murthy, the producer of Kannada movie 'Maadesha,' and his friend Langda Babu are accused of killing actor Vinod (32), in an inebriated state at his Rose Heritage farmhouse in Bagalur village, Bangalore.

Govardhan Murthy has been in jail since his arrest by Bangalore police on October 11, 2008.  The Karnataka High Court, by its order passed on January 8, 2010 had denied bail to Murthy against which he had approached the apex court.

‘’The petitioner is a young man of 30 years of age, excelling in his business. The petitioner is totally innocent and has been falsely implicated in the offence alleged by the complainant’ said the bail petition moved by Advocate Kamini Jaiswal.

Advocate Sanjay Hegde appearing for the prosecution opposed the bail plea. Advocates Ravi B Naik and K Visheveswara appearing for Kiran Kumar, the brother of Vinod, also opposed the bail application.
