The minister on Monday appealed those selected for lecturer posts to send him complaints if they are demanded money to get appointment orders. He got responses through mail and also got calls on his cellphones.
A mail says ‘somebody in Tumkur city’ is engaged in collecting money from candidates for the posts. However, the mail does not mention the name of the person involved in the act.
A complaint says a few people are engaged in collecting money from the candidates stating that the minister himself wants Rs 30,000 each from all the selected candidates to issue appointment orders. But the complaint does not mention any names. Another complainant said a candidate had obtained the job as lecturer in Sociology after paying a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. The complainant, who has remained anonymous, mentioned the name of the candidate.
The minister’s move to accept complaints to his personal e-mail has helped many people to send in their grievances on issues other than appointment of lecturers as well.
A complainant has demanded the minister help him get back money paid to a private Engineering College for a seat to his son. Another mail lists suggestions to change the syllabus in BSc course. The minister has said he will take appropriate action after going through all the complaints.
