The healthcase industry should ensure that its services are accessible and affordable to all the sections of the society, Minister for Medical Education Ramchandra Gowda has said.

He was speaking at the inauguration of Healthex 2010 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) here on Friday. Gowda said apart from ensuring that the services were affordable to all the sections of the society, it was also equally important to ensure that the cost of equipment utilised in the healthcase sector should come down.

Chairman of Healthex 2010 and CII National Council on Healthcare Dr Prathap Reddy said it was a positive step to note that the health care sector in India has grown by leaps and bounds. At the same time, it has still not been able to reach all the sections of the society. To enable the healthcare sector affordable and accessible to all, Healthex 2010 has been organised, he said.

“The exhibition, which will be held on an annual basis, will provide a common platform for bringing all the innovations - from medical equipment and information technology in the healthcare sector, so that quality healthcare reaches a greater number of people,” Dr Reddy said.
