JOIN USSpeaking to press persons in Mangalore on Wednesday, he said that as this problem has been a curse on Muslim community, the Islamic Culture Centre, Pumpwell (ICC) plans to lead a wide-spread campaign towards dowry free society.
Calling every Jamaths and Mohallas to take steps to establish dowry-free society by practicing the tenets of Islam, he said “Marriage is not a business transaction or means of exploitation, but it is religious bond as well as happy relations between man and woman. There is no concept of dowry in Islam. Instead, Mahr (gifts given by groom to bride) is mandatory during marriages.”
Udupi District Qazi and Sunni Jamiyyatul Ulama State Committee President P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, Karnataka State Sunni Youth Association President Abusufyan H Ibrahim Madani, founder of Talent Research Foundation Abdul Rauf Puttige, Usman Haji Mittur among others were present.
