Kadur MLA Krishnamurthy passes away

He breathed his last in Bangalore on Sunday

Krishnamurthy was suffering of ill health and was admitted to Ramaiah Hospital in Bangalore. He was later shifted to Panacea for advanced treatment where he breathed his last.He was born as the eldest son of K H Mudiyappa and Jayamma of Kadur on May 27, 1949. After completing his primary and high school education in Kadur, he completed his BA from Mysore University.

In 1978, he was elected as a member of Kadur Town Municipal Council and thus started his political career. In 1982, he contested in Assembly elections from Kadur taluk but lost it. In 1986, he contested in the assembly elections on Janata Party ticket under Ramakrishna Hegde’s leadership and lost. In the same year, he contested in Zilla Parishat elections from Yagati and won the election. He was thus the first president of the first Zilla Parishat. In 1989, he had to taste failure for the third time in assembly election.

Never bogged down by his failure, Krishnamurthy finally made it to the Assembly in 1994 by defeating Veerabhadrappa of Congress. After being elected again in 1999 and 2004 on Janata Party and JD(S) tickets respectively, he later joined Siddaramaiah’s Ahinda. In 2008, he won for the fourth time from Kadur on Congress ticket. He had served as Food Board President in J H Patel government in 1994. Though he had built lot of dreams of becoming a Minister, destiny and luck did not favour him.

He is survived by his mother Jayamma, wife Sujata, brother ZP President K M Kemparaju, children Sharath, Tanvitha and Shathrughna.

JD(S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda has condoled the death of Krishnamurthy. “I had seen him as a young man who was elected as the first president of the Zilla Parishat. Since then, he had worked a lot with me and had developed his own political persona of his own,” said Deve Gowda.Meanwhile, MLC Y S V Datta said that Krishnamurthy has made a mark in this area by winning from the constituency for four times.
