Late arrival at duty costs guard his life

Sahani was from Assam. The police arrested the suspected killer, identified as Vishal Mohapatra, also from Assam. Vishal, also a security guard was on day duty on Saturday night and Sahani was scheduled to relieve him at 10.30 pm. Sahani came an hour late.

Vishal, who was drunk, quarrelled with Sahani over the delay. He took out a knife and stabbed Sahani in his chest twice. Sahani died on the spot, police said.

Vishal also attacked two workers who were present at the spot, and who tried to restrain him. He went to the Yelahanka railway station in an attempt to escape after committing the crime, but police arrested him around 4.30 am, before he could board a train.
