The makers of actor Allu Arjun's upcoming pan-India movie Pushpa took to Twitter on Sunday to announce that Mollywood star Fahadh Faasil will be playing the antagonist in the biggie. This will be his first Telugu movie and may help him add a new dimension to his career. FaFa's first look is likely to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Fahadh, widely regarded as one of M-town's brightest stars, has a strong screen presence and is capable of emoting with his eyes. The star received praise for his effective portrayal of the suave antagonist 'Aadhi' in the Tamil movie Velaikkaran, which suggests that he is the right choice for Pushpa.

He also garnered a fair deal of attention with his work in Kumbalangi Nights, Maheshinte Prathikaaram and Njan Prakashan. Last year, he hit the right notes with the 'direct to OTT' release CU Soon. It remains to be seen wether he is able to impress the Telugu audience with his work.

Pushpa, meanwhile, has piqued the curiosity of the fans as it features 'Bunny' in a rugged new avatar and deals with the issue of smuggling. The movie stars Rashmika Mandanna as the leading lady and marks her first collaboration with the mass hero. The 'Kodava Beauty' will be seen playing the role of a government officer in the biggie, which may prove to be a game changer for her. Sye Raa actor Vijay Sethupathi was supposed to be a part of the flick but opted out due to his packed schedule.

Puhspa was to be made with Mahesh Babu in the lead but that did not happen as he quit the project over 'creative differences'. The Sukumar-directed film is slated to release in multiple languages on August 13.

Coming back to Fahadh, he will soon be seen in the crime-thriller Irul that is slated to release digitally on April 2. He also has Malik and Paattu in his kitty.
