'KGF' wins hearts; netizens go gaga about film

The much-awaited Sandalwood magnum opus, KGF released today after some 'will-it'-release 'will-it-not-release' moments on Thursday.

The first-day was nothing less than a festival at the theatres that the movie was to be screened -- from excited fans to helicopter showering flowers on huge cutouts of Yash- the film's protagonist.

Did the film live up to the hype after the morning and matinee shows? DH brings you the initial responses to the flick. 

According to a fan who caught a 6 am show of the film, it was worth every penny

From most of the reviews, the film did seem to live up to the audience's expectations

Even upcoming semester exams did not deter students from heading to the theatres to catch the movie.

Several fans called the film a breakthrough that will bring Kannada film industry to the fore. And one that could give a Bollywood flick a tough competition and win it too. Parallels were drawn between Yash's performance in KGF and Amitabh Bachchan's in Zanjeer.

There were next to none negative reviews of the film. Even if any, people who watched the movie thought the reviews were either fake or not qualified enough to judge the film's excellence.

With initial reviews so heartening, KGF might just be the game changer Kannada Film industry has been waiting for. One needs to wait and watch how the film fares during the weekend and see if this is the 'Baahubali' that film-lovers waiting for.
