The Hollywood biggie Spider-Man: No Way Home, which hit the screens on December 16, has grossed nearly Rs 211 crore at the domestic box office in 10 days and emerged as a blockbuster.

The film collected an impressive Rs 41.50 crore on its opening day despite the fact that theatres were operating at 50 per cent capacity in Maharashtra. It remained strong over the (extended) weekend despite facing competition from Allu Arjun's Pushpa: The Rise in the Telugu states. The Marvel offering ended its first week with a total collection of nearly Rs 189 crore, exceeding expectations. It started its second week quite well. remaining the top choice of the 'Gen Y' crowd.

The Bollywood biggie 83, starring Ranveer Singh, affected its performance in the metros but didn't pose a threat in the smaller cities. The film continued its dream run, raking in nearly Rs 13 crore on Christmas and overpowered this week's big Bollywood release The Matrix Resurrections.

No Way Home has, either way, received positive reviews with critics describing it as a 'fan event'. The consensus is that it takes the franchise in the right direction with its stellar production values and engaging storyline. The word of mouth is overwhelmingly positive, which should help it stay strong in the coming days. No Way Home is likely to face limited competition from Shahid Kapoor's Jersey, which hits the screens on December 31. The juggernaut, however, may slow down only when S S Rajamouli's Rise Roar Revolt (RRR) arrives in theatres on January 7.

No Way Home is directed by Jon Watts and features Tim Holland in the lead role. It has a multiverse setting and revolves around what happens when five Spider-Man villains--- Green Goblin, Electro, Otto Octavius, Sandman and Lizard-- from alternate realities 'show up' after a botched spell. The cast includes Benedict 'Dr Strange' Cumberbatch, Zendaya, Alfred Molina, Jon Favreauband Jacob Batalon.
