Awareness on need to conserve the environment should be created among children at a very young age, District and Sessions Judge C M Joshi said.

He was speaking during the Parisara Mitra School award distribution programme, organised by Karnataka State Science Parishat in association with District Legal Service Authority, District Pubic Instruction Department and District Environment Pollution Board, at DC Office on Thursday.

The Judge said the present-day curriculum had laid emphasis on the awareness to be created among children on protecting the environment.

“But the need-of-hour is to get the children exposed to such awareness programmes quite early in their homes. The home should be the initial place wherein children learn how to protect the environment.”

He said the scientific inventions were countless in number. But sadly there were very few inventions made in the direction towards protecting the environment. Joshi said the scientists should look into the possibilities of sustaining the environment for generations to
come.

He urged every individual to develop a deep bonding with the environment and take measures to protect it. He added that every household should take a pledge on protecting the environment. Every individual should make an attempt to ensure that the entire globe is environment friendly, he added.
