The Samajwadi Party on Sunday urged the Election Commission to remove some top UP government officials, alleging that they are functioning like "workers" of the ruling BJP.
Separately, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) too sought the removal of some officials, who according to it are working as "agents of the BJP".
Sanyukt Samaj Morcha leader Balbir Singh Rajewal on Sunday ruled out the alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party for next month's Punjab Assembly polls and said they will declare their candidates within a week.
Various Punjab farmer bodies who had taken part in the stir against the Centre’s now withdrawn farm law had launched their political front last month and announced to contest the Assembly polls.
"Current political circumstances indicate that there is a direct fight between BJP & Samajwadi Party in UP... I will hold a meeting with my supporters tomorrow & then seek time from Akhilesh Ji."
