. Life was disrupted in several parts of the country on Tuesday as shops and commercial establishments stayed closed, the transport was affected and protesters squatted on key roads and rail tracks in response to a ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by farmers demanding a repeal of the new Agri laws.

. Public transport services in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra remained largely unaffected, while APMC markets downed shutters on Tuesday in response to the 'Bharat Bandh' called by farmer unions to press for repeal of the Centre's new agricultural laws.

. As protests against the new farm laws raged across the country, India answered calls of Bharat Bandh raised by the farmer outfits. While some states had mixed response, spurts of protests were seen in almost every state. Here are some pictures showcasing how the Bandh was observed in various parts of the country.

. The Bharat Bandh called by farmer unions, protesting the three Central agri laws, drew a mixed response in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday with shops and offices remaining largely open, while the Samajwadi Party held protests in a number of districts and even holding up a train in Allahabad.

. Transporters' apex body AIMTC on Tuesday said the support to the farmers' Bharat Bandh call was 'successful, peaceful and voluntary'.

. At least 60 to 70 members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and affiliated outfits were detained during a protest held in support of the Bharat Bandh in Maharashtra's Solapur city on Tuesday, police said.

CPM leader Narasayya Adam led the agitation in support of the bandh called by farmers demanding repealing of the Centre's agri laws.

. Farmers will demand just a "yes or no" to their demands when they meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah, their leaders said on Tuesday while claiming their 'Bharat Bandh' against the new farm laws is "successful" and had impact in 25 states.

A group of farmer leaders will meet Shah on Tuesday evening, a day before their sixth round of talks with Union ministers slated for Wednesday.

"There is no midway. We will demand just 'yes' or 'no' from Home Minister Amit Shah at today's meeting," farmer leader Rudru Singh Mansa said at a press conference at the Singhu border.

Mansa claimed the Central government has bowed down before the 'Bharat Bandh'.

However, long-distance vehicles stayed off the roads, police said.

Leaders of the ruling Congress, including MLAs and workers, have come out on streets at many places in Raipur and are appealing people to express solidarity with farmers.

. Social activist Anna Hazare on Tuesday sat on a day-long hunger strike to support agitating farmers who have called Bharat Bandh demanding repeal of the Centre's agri laws.

Hazare also said the agitation should spread across the country so that the government comes under pressure to act in the interests of cultivators.

In a recorded message, Hazare appreciated farmers' protests at the borders of Delhi saying no violence has taken place in the last 10 days of the agitation.

. Agriculture Produce Market Committees (APMCs) remained closed in many parts of Maharashtra on Tuesday in support of the Bharat Bandh called by agitating farmer unions to press for repeal of the Centre's agri laws.

Wholesale markets in major cities like Pune, Nashik, Nagpur and Aurangabad remained shut. Retail shops also downed shutters in many cities.
