Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed Robert Hur as a Special Counsel to investigate the discovery of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, DC and the Bidens' personal residence in Wilmington, Delaware.

CJ of Delhi HC, another judge recuses from hearing plea challenging appointment of CJI Chandrachud

Delhi High Court Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad Friday recused from hearing a plea seeking review of its order dismissing a challenge to the appointment of Justice D Y Chandrachud as the Chief Justice of India (CJI).

The division bench of the high court noted that certain allegations have also been levelled against them in the petition, and said it cannot hear the case.

The bench headed by Chief Justice Sharma said the plea will be heard by another bench on January 16.

Netaji birth anniversary: Amit Shah to visit Andaman on Jan 23

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary on January 23, an official said on Friday.

Netaji hoisted the national flag at Gymkhana Ground here on December 30, 1943, and Shah will do it at the same spot on January 23, the official said. The ground is now renamed as ‘Netaji Stadium’.

Rahul condoles demise of Sharad Yadav, says his contribution to country will always be remembered

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday paid respects to former Union Minister Sharad Yadav at his residence here, and said he had learnt a lot about politics from the veteran politician.

First phase of Shravasti airport in UP ready

The first phase of Shravasti airport has been completed and is expected to become operational by the end of the first quarter of this year.

According to the government spokesman, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials in Shravasti airport will visit the directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA) in Delhi next week and give a presentation on the status in order to get a licence to operate the airport.

Spread across 57 acres, the airport has a 1,530-meter runway to handle landing and take-off of 19 seater planes.

At a time when the world is faced with continued economic slowdown and social distress, the international community counts a lot on India's leadership of G-20, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund said Thursday.

"India, which is the president of G-20 countries, remains among the countries that perform better than global average and by a good percentage," IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva told reporters during a media roundtable.
