Cyclone Fengal Highlights | Deep depression unlikely to intensify into cyclone: IMD
This blog is now closed. Coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, including the fertile Cauvery Delta region, Chennai, and its neighbouring districts, have been drenched with extremely heavy rainfall since November 25, under the influence of a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal, which can intensify into a cyclonic storm named Cyclone Fengal. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Fengal would impact Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and coastal Andhra Pradesh, while also skirting the Sri Lankan coast during the subsequent 2 to 3 days - November 28 to November 30. But for now, a deep depression has formed that may not intensify into a cyclone, as per IMD.
