Delhi stampede Highlights| Bihar BJP chief alleges 'conspiracy' behind crush

This blog is closed now. At least 18 people died and over a dozen were injured in a stampede at the New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday night following a sudden rush of passengers going to Prayagraj to attend the Kumbh Mela. The incident occurred after rumours went around that the Indian Railways had cancelled two Prayagraj-bound trains, which led to chaos. In the aftermath of the incident, Railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the spot and a high-level inquiry was ordered to probe what led to the crush. On Sunday morning, the railways announced compensation for those injured, and for the kin of the deceased. Saturday's incident follows an earlier deadly stampede in Prayagraj, which had left 30 dead.
