<p>Garuda Mall owner Uday Garudachar believes he is in with a chance to win.<br />Uday, son of former DGP B N Garudachar, filed his nomination papers in Patna backed by mandatory signatures from 10 MLAs who included those from the Bahujan Samaj Party and independents. <br /><br />Speaking to Deccan Herald over the phone, Uday said he was in the fray because of his friends. <br /><br />“I know many MLAs and other friends from Bihar and they asked me to contest from here. Hence I came here to contest. I am impressed by the achievements of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and want to contribute in my own way to Bihar. I am fond of this state because it was a treasure house of knowledge in ancient times. Now, in this area of knowledge, Bihar should become like Bangalore”, he added.<br /><br />Asked about his winning chances, Uday said while 41 votes were needed for a candidate to win, he will concentrate on surplus votes from major parties like the Janata Dal (United)of Nitish Kumar, Bharatiya Janata Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal besides BSP and 11 independents. “There are five seats and six candidates. I have forced the election. I hope I will win,” he added.<br /><br />Cong, TDP win six RS seats<br />Meanwhile, DHNS reports from Hyderabad that Union Minister of State for Environment Jairam Ramesh and five others, including former AP chief minister N Janardhan Reddy, were elected unopposed to the RS from Andhra Pradesh on Monday. <br /><br />While four belong to the ruling Congress, two belong to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Those elected are Jairam Ramesh, Janardhan Reddy, V Hanumantha Rao and J D Seelam of the Congress. Industrialist Sujana Choudhary and Sudha Rani are from the TDP. <br /></p>
