India Political Highlights: Rahul's Manipur visit had a political agenda, why didn't he come before, says N Biren Singh

People like Owaisi push forward Jinnah-type culture. Under the leadership of PM Modi, the country has been moving forward, said Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. Mallkarjun Kharge and Randeep Singh Surjewala have arrived at Sonia Gandhi's residence for parliamentary strategy meeting. Assam CM and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused the Congress of 'crying about Manipur' when the state is moving towards normalcy. The BJP has slammed Rahul Gandhi over his visit to Manipur, saying the Congress leader came to the north east state to gain political mileage. The Opposition gears up for the next all-party meet, with the first exposing brief fissures between AAP and Congress over the Ordinance issue. All's fine though amid the myriad parties, insists TMC's Derek O'Brien. Meanwhile, the Congress Parliamentary Strategy Group is to meet today ahead of the Parliamentary body hearing on Uniform Civil Code that has kicked up a new political storm with BJP and Opposition parties trading barbs. Rahul's Manipur visit had a political agenda, why didn't he come before: N Biren Singh

"We can't stop anyone. But the timing - it has been 40 days. Why did he not come earlier? He is a Congress leader but in what capacity was he making the visit? I don't think the timing was right. I don't support the manner in which he came": N Biren Singh
