Karnataka election: BJP leader performs gau puja

Last Updated 12 May 2018, 10:54 IST

B Sriramulu, one of BJP’s most prominent candidates, was seen performing ‘gau puja’ before he stepped out and cast his vote in Ballari.

Clad in the traditional saffron attire, Sriramulu performed puja to a turmeric smeared cow. Sreeramulu is contesting from two constituencies - Molakalamuru in Chitradurga and Badami in Bagalkot. The BJP leader touted as the party’s deputy chief ministerial candidate has taken on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Badami.

The BJP MP from Ballari is a close confidante of the Ballari mining baron Janardhan Reddy and his brothers. Just two days before the polling, the Congress tried targeting him by releasing videos, where he was charged with brokering a deal to favour Reddy.

The Congress has sought his disqualification.
